Table bases are particularly popular within restaurants, where restaurant owners want unique tables, for a unique style. Creating a table from a separate base and table top allows the purchaser to create a unique table that fits the atmosphere they are trying to create. It might also be a cheaper option for restaurant and bar owners to put tables together in this way as the table tops can be purchased in bulk.

The general rule for choosing a table base is that it can support a table top twice its dimensions. For heavier table tops such as granite you should take extra caution and more support may be required. 

Table bases can be either four-legged or pedestal. Pedestal table bases are generally the most popular option for restaurants, as they make it easier for customers to be seated comfortably and allow for more guests around one table. Four-legged bases have a more traditional vibe.
