Pedestal Tables are defined as any tables which are held up by a single stem, rather than multiple legs.

They are very useful for larger families who want to be able to fit as many chairs around a table as possible, as otherwise they are limited by the legs of the table, and we all know it is not comfortable to keep hitting a table leg!

Another benefit of a Pedestal Table is that they have the illusion of taking up less space, and create the feeling of more space around the table. The fact that there is only one central leg also makes it so much easier to clean under the table, especially when vacuuming.

Designs for Pedestal Tables are becoming more and more adventurous. A popular design is for multiple central legs which each crossover with each other, for an interesting modern design. A more traditional design is a single curved wooden pillar, which fits into a flat base for support.
